The only adjustment that I think I’m going to make to my project is that I was going to look at how the socio economic status affects students using technology in the classroom and at home. But, I haven’t been able to find any studies on this topic. I have decided I just want to focus on the motivation and technology in the classrooms. Even though I believe teachers and students would be interested to find if the socioeconomic has any effect and it would be an important study, it is too much for me to focus on for my project. And I think it would take away from my other studies I have found.
In order to gather more information, I plan to find more case studies on Galileo and Google Scholar. The plan is to present a few more findings to help support my question so there is no doubt or faults in my research report. I have no doubt that I will have any problem finding mores studies as I already have two. And since technology in schools has become prevalent, there should be many studies online to find. This research report can also help future teachers become aware of how to motivate their students to learn more.
The study I found online through the UGA library is an action research project report in order to increase motivation in schools through technology. The study was conducted with 116 students in first, fourth, fifth and eight grade classes. From student surveys, one third of students felt that class activities did not relate to their interests or use technology to help motivate the students. In order to increase motivation in students, a technology supported learning environment was implemented. These lesson plans included technological tools such as computers, laptops, iPads, interactive whiteboards and more. Overall, the technology supported learning environment improved student motivation and engagement by 9% after the intervention period. This research study that I have found will be my 3rd research study to use for my research report.
